Description The Ram's head was carved from a single block of native American Black Walnut. The piece of wood revealed it's shape and soul to Mike during a chaotic dream. When you come to an understanding with this sculpture you know courage and humanity. Presently it is not on the auction block but if your pockets are deep enough contact me. Do not be discouraged because there are many other forms of art for sale including encaustic paintings, cast paper collage, drawings, and small carvings. 2007 Description This walnut sculpture was created out of an aged piece of American root stock. The piece created it self as The entire creation came to me when I first saw the stump of wood. Again my reason was to combine the masculine strength of a ram with the wisdom of our time. There is something inherent to all human's that can let us remain placid and strong whithout action. The beautiful grain of the wood and the lines of the face make most people ant to touch the long face. The concept of strength and compassion is something I feel the world can use more of. In a way it is a political statement. The wood itself led me as you can see that both horns are different yet matching. It is the yin and yang of life, in difference we find an openess, we just need to use what is in us all along, I feel art should be something we can feel and it should bring out emotions that are suppressed. I hope I have been succesful as this piece seems to dominate any room it is put into. Openenss, acceptance and the strength to act only when needed |
![]() | Buddy "Buddy was carved from the bole of a rock maple tree. He has inset blue glass eyes and copper and lead garments. He looks upwards and rubbing his forehead should either bring enlightenment or a higher polish to this hard wood. The wood for Buddy was salvaged fro a tree hit by lightning . Many of the sculptures you see are on view for the first time. Mike has generally regarded the art authorities as an enemy to his progress as a self taught artist. Now everyone can enjoy his art. Buddy is for sale $2000 |
![]() | Chief Manhattoes was carved from an aciet pine. Mike salvaged the wood from a discarded support beam of a Greenwich village town house that as built before 1820.
